Autumn setting in

The clocks went back this morning and although the day was sunny and windy, it really did start to get dark far too early for my liking!

It was a quiet family weekend up in Achiltibuie for us. We had a lovely walk on Achnahaird beach on Sunday morning before having a look around the smokehouse. This may sound strange but sometimes it is nice to have a look at all the different levels of the smoking process. This time was particularly interesting as we were also thinking about the Organic Food festival next weekend which will be in Glasgow.

Summer Isles foods and the Smokehouse have changed so much since I was young. Some of my earliest memories are of standing outside the factory windows and the girls in the production room passing bits of smoked salmon trimmings to me without my father seeing! How times have changed. Not only is that not allowed but we have the Organic standards to think of too. It is great to remind ourselves that our methods are traditional and yet we still maintain the highest of standards for all our ranges.

I've taken a few delicious products from the shop in Achiltibuie and I'll be making up some of our great, tried and tested recipes to add to the site to check them out through out this month for ideas for Christmas meals.
